Create legal power of attorney documents online
Make sure someone you trust can step in to handle your finances and care if you’re unable to.

Why every Canadian needs a power of attorney
A power of attorney is a legal document that names the person who'll make decisions for you if you're ever unable to. For example, after an accident or a serious illness.
Without a power of attorney, the people closest to you can't automatically step in. They may have to go to court just to pay your bills or speak to your doctors.
Have you thought about who'd manage your money or your care if you couldn't?
Here’s how a power of attorney protects you:
Someone you trust can manage your finances and your health decisions
Your family isn't left guessing during a crisis
There are no court delays over who's allowed to act for you
It's one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love.

Your will and power of attorney work together
Power of attorney documents protect you while you're alive. A will takes care of your wishes after you're gone.
Most Canadians need both, so Willful's Premium plan includes your will, both power of attorney documents, free access to a will registry, and free updates for life, for $199.
Frequently asked questions

Yes. Willful's power of attorney documents are legally valid and built with estate lawyers in each province. Once you've answered a few questions, you download your documents and sign them in front of witnesses to make them official. We give you step-by-step instructions for your province.
Not usually, but it depends on where you live. In BC, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, your power of attorney needs to be notarized. Everywhere else, you just need to sign it in front of witnesses. Willful tells you exactly what's needed where you live. Some banks or land offices may still ask for a notarized copy for certain transactions, even if it's not required to make your document valid.

You can make both a power of attorney for property, which covers your money and property, and a power of attorney for personal care, which covers your health and medical decisions.
If you want someone you trust, rather than a court, to make decisions about your money or your health if you couldn't, you need one. That's true at any age. Accidents and illness don't wait for retirement.
Willful's power of attorney documents come with our Premium plan, which also includes your will, a will registry, and free updates for life. Most Canadians need all of these, so we've bundled them together.
Someone you trust who's willing and able to act for you, like a partner, family member, or close friend. You can name different people for your finances and your care, and you can add backups.
Your documents are built for the province you live in now. If you move, we recommend reviewing and updating them, which is free if they were created with Willful, and takes a few minutes.
