Frequently asked questions

What is Final Wishes?

It’s a free end-of-life planning template. You use it to write down your burial preferences, your memorial plans, and the things you’d like people to remember about you. It gives your loved ones a clear guide when the time comes.

How do I get the Final Wishes template?

Create a free Willful account and you’ll find Final Wishes in your dashboard. Download it, print it, and fill it out whenever you’re ready.

Is Final Wishes a legal document?

No. It’s a personal guide for your family and your executor, the person responsible for carrying out the wishes in your will. It doesn’t replace a will, but the two work well together.

Do I need a will first?

No. You can fill out Final Wishes on its own. But if you don’t have a will yet, you can make one with Willful. You can also create your powers of attorney (POAs), the people who handle your affairs if you’re ill or can’t speak for yourself.

I added farewell wishes when I made my will. How is this different?

Final Wishes includes those answers and goes further. You can plan your ceremony, pick the music and food, and name the charities you’d like people to donate to instead of sending flowers.

What should I do once it’s filled out?

Save it with your will, somewhere safe. You can also keep related documents with it, like funeral contracts or life insurance policies. Make sure your executor and family know where to find it.
